Who is Jesus?

In keeping with the historical beliefs of the world-wide Church — and as stated in the Apostle’s Creed — we believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and lived a sinless life.

During His time on earth, He demonstrated the love of God through His ministry to all He came in contact with — even those who were considered unlovable and untouchable. He was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate at the request of the Jewish leaders at the time, who considered Him an impostor and a threat to their way of life.

His death was the perfect sacrifice that paid the price for our sins. He was crucified as a common criminal, was buried in a borrowed tomb and arose from the dead on the third day in bodily form for all to see. After His death, He appeared to many people and instructed his followers to preach the good news of the Gospel to the whole world.

Forty days after His resurrection — in the company of a group of His disciples — He ascended into heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father, constantly ‘making intercession’ for us (Romans 8:34).

We believe that one day very soon at the time appointed in advance by God, He will return to claim his bride — the Church — and at that time He will judge the living and the dead. Those who have placed their trust and faith in Him will enter into everlasting life, and live forever with Him in the place He has prepared.

This is our Blessed Hope.
